Join JACL for our "Bowling for PSW!" Fundraiser
On Sunday, March 28, 2010, the PSW District will kick off Bowling for PSW! Marking the District’s 2nd annual fundraising bowl-a-thon, it will build upon last year’s success. With 17-20 teams of up to 6 players each, each team will be led by a team captain who will ensure that his/her team will raise a collective team goal of $900 in individual sponsorships.
Teams will be bowling their hearts out for PSW and competing for a prize from 2-5pm in a reserved private space at Jillian's Universal CityWalk. If you are interested in sponsoring a team or individuals team members, please contact Andrew Yick at

JACL Pacific Southwest District Advocates on the Metro Regional Connector
JACL working as a member of the Little Tokyo Community Council has been a strong advocate in the debate regarding Metro’s new proposed Regional Connector. In order to minimize the impact to Little Tokyo’s businesses, events, and non-profit organizations our district has played a major role in the following activities: 1) dialogue with Metro administrators and 2) strategizing with Little Tokyo stakeholders. Through that dialogue both Metro and the Community have reached a tentative consensus around the building of a 3rd alternative which will run primarily underground, under 2nd Street, and surface along Alameda and 1st street.

JACL, NCRR and CAIR Host Civil rights Dialogue with Japanese and Muslim American Students Through the Bridging Communities Program
On February 20, 2010, the JACL Pacific Southwest District, Nikkei for Civil Rights and Redress and the Council on American-Islamic Relations hosted the first session of the second annual Bridging Communities Program. This years program, gathering 25 Japanese American and Muslim American high school students, will create awareness and action for solidarity between our two communities.
The goal of the Bridging Communities Program is to create awareness, dialogue and ultimately activism from Japanese American and Muslim American youth through a series of interactive sessions including topics such as: identity, culture, religion, civil rights, community history, advocacy, and community service.
