Los Angeles Regional Congressional Gold Medal Celebration

Join us for the Los Angeles Regional Congressional Gold Medal Celebration on Saturday, June 9, 2012 from 9 – 11 am.

We especially encourage veterans, widows, and KIA next of kin who were not able to travel to Washington, DC or other ceremonies around the country to attend this community celebration.

The celebration will be held at the Go For Broke Monument, 160 N. Central Avenue in the Historic Little Tokyo section of Los Angeles (major cross streets are E. Temple Street and Judge John Aiso Street). Parking is limited, so please plan accordingly.

The event is a collaborative effort of the 100th/442nd Veterans Association, MIS Veterans Association of Southern California, 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans, the Japanese American National Museum, JACL Pacific Southwest District, Japanese American Bar Association, and this organization, and we look forward to a hopefully-sunny-but-not-too-hot community gathering to celebrate the awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal to the Japanese American units of World War II.

Complimentary Tickets for Vets, Widows and KIA next of Kin

All Japanese American World War II veterans, widows, and next of kin of KIAs, along with one guest, will receive a complimentary admission ticket.

General admission for all others is $20/person.

Due to the size of the expected crowd, we can only guarantee five(5) general admission tickets per veteran family.

To register, please download the LA CGM Registration form. Deadline for reservations is May 25, 2012.

Presentation of Congressional Gold

Every WWII Japanese American veteran, widow, and KIA next of kin who has registered to attend the event, and who has not received a Congressional Gold Medal replica at a previous ceremony, will receive a CGM replica as a gift, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.

Additionally, every veteran family will receive a copy of Senate Bill S.1055 that awards that the Congressional Gold Medal to the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team and Military Intelligence Service.
